AIRASIA INTERNAL CADET PILOT INTAKE : HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

*PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT THIS IS JUST A GUIDANCE. SUBJECT TO CHANGES BY AIRASIA. 

Hello everyone.

This is my first post in English language. Sorry for any errors.

So, shall we start?

Alright. It is divided into 5 stages.

1^ST STAGE – ENGLISH, MATHS AND PHYSICS TEST. (SAME DAY)

Procedure.

• For English paper, it has 3 essays. Each essays takes up to 3 pages.
• For each essay, there will be 5 questions given. So, 15 questions in total. 
• You are given 40 minutes only. 
• 
  
• Maths paper, this is obviously based on SPM questions. 
• So please study all topics in form 4 and form 5, I REPEAT, ALL!  
• 25 questions, 40 minutes will be given. 
• In my opinion, it was quite easy. It’s just that you have to manage your time really well. Do not waste even a second. 
• Take note, there will be no formulas given. Please memorize.
• 
  
• Physics. This is the toughest. 
• 25 questions, 40 minutes. 
• Same thing, please study ALL chapters in SPM. 
• Do not assume that only aviation related topics will be asked. 
• During my time, even the nuclear topic was asked. 
• So study all topics! 
• Take note, no formulas will be given.

TIPS

• READ AS FAST AS YOU CAN
• COUNT AS FAST AS YOU CAN
• BRING EXTRA PEN AND PENCIL
• YOU NEED TO USE SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR
• MEMORIZE THE FORMULAS
• STUDY ALL TOPICS. (SPM CHAPTERS). IF POSSIBLE, TRY TO DO THE PAST YEARS EXAM PAPERS. IT DOES HELPS.
• DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME. IF YOU CANNOT ANSWER, MOVE TO THE NEXT QUESTION. THEN COME BACK TO ANSWER THE UNANSWERED.
• DO NOT ASSUME. JUST STUDY ALL CHAPTERS. (i am telling you this, not because i am lazy but the truth is, all topics were asked. no specific topic)

2 STAGE – PERSONALITY TEST.

PROCEDURE

• This test is using the computers.
• The staff will assist you on logging in. Shouldn’t be any problem.
• This will be conducted in 1 day. It should only take up to 30 minutes to complete.
• There are 18 questions (9 questions that will repeat twice)
• How to answer? Well, it is as simple as dragging the choices. There are 8 choices. You have to arrange whichever that described you most, put it on top and whichever that does not described your personality, put it at the lowest. Remember, as simple as dragging and arranging the answers.
• The tricky part is that you have to memorize what was your arrangements for the first 9 questions because you have to do the same arrangements for the next 9 questions.
• If you are certain of your answers, you may click “submit”.
• There will be a situation whereby after you click the “submit” button, there’s a box states something like “your answers does not match. Please check/redo again”
• If this happened, just relax, try to memorize what was your arrangements. You have just 1 chance to correct your mistakes.
• No time limits. Just do at your own pace.

3^RD STAGE – INTERVIEW

PROCEDURE

• Basically this is just a normal interview.
• Please dress accordingly.
• Bring your resume and all your academic qualification certificates.
• I suggest, put the original copy nicely inside a nice plastic folder (like catalogue)
• Prepare 3 sets of documents and arrange it nicely.

TIPS

• Please prepare yourself with basic knowledge on aircraft and aviation world. Or at least make sure you have a good knowledge on your current job.
• Just relax and answer their questions confidently. No lies.
• Courtesy is the priority.

WHAT I WENT THROUGH

• tell me about yourself.
• why do you want to become a pilot?
• are you married?
• how does aircraft fly?
• how does aeroplane turn, yaw and bank?
• what are the basic instruments in the cockpit?
• what is attitide indicator? how does it works? what is inside it?
• how are you going to survive with rm350 while you are still in training?

4^th STAGE – PSYCHOMOTO

PROCEDURE

• ·         This will be conducted in one day.
• ·         It is divided into 2 sessions.
• ·         1^st sessions is basically a computer test. You are required to answer mathematics questions. The questions are mostly on the equations type. Like, “find the value of x, find the value of y”.
• ·         You only have 2 to 3 minutes to answer each question.
• ·         If you could not answer within the given time, it will automatically jump to next question.
• ·         Each questions will have 8 choices of answers

TIPS

• ·         Before you start, please prepare PENCIL/PEN, SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR AND PAPERS on the table.
• ·         You are going to do a fast calculations. So don’t waste your time.
• ·         Read the questions carefully and choose the answer carefully because you have 8 choices of answers.
• ·         Make sure you master the equations tricks.

Psychomotor 2^nd session

PROCEDURE

• ·         You are given a desktop computer, 1 set for each person and a joystick. Like the Logitech Extreme 3D PRO, flight simulator joystick.
• ·         This is also a computer test.
• ·         Sorry I don’t have the picture of how the monitor looks like during the test. Hope you can imagine.
• 
  

This is called “PRIMARY FLIGHT DISPLAY”

• So you see the pink crossbar at the center? You have to use the joystick to follow the crossbar all the time.
•  
• On top of the primary flight display, it will state 2 six digit combination numbers. Like, “68005 and 34600”. Each combination will appear for like 5 seconds, then it will disappear. You need to memorize these numbers as you have to key-in these numbers when the game pause by itself.
•  
• Beside the PRIMARY FLIGHT DISPLAY there will be gray boxes. Whenever you see it illuminates, you must quickly press the number pad.

• Don’t worry about other buttons, just focus on buttons number 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 only.
• You need to react quickly.
•  
• At the same time, you are wearing the headphone. You are required to listen to the voice prompt carefully. The instructions is if you heard 3 odd numbers consecutively (example, 1,3,5), press the “z” button. If you heard 3 even numbers consecutively (example 2,4,6), press the “x” button.
• If it is not consecutively, do not press anything.

TIPS

• Based on my experience, I highly recommend these arrangements. I hope you will do the same.
• Joystick – left hand side, beside the keyboard.
• Mouse – right hand side, below the keyboard. Nearer to you. Don’t worry, you are not using it.
• Pen and paper – beside the keyboard, right hand side.
• I suggest you use the joystick using left hand. Remember, you have to chase the crossbar all the way until this game end.
• So you may use your right hand to press the keyboard and write the number combinations.
• Write down the 6 digit combination numbers. Trust me, you cannot memorize it. So WRITE IT DOWN.
• Do not forget to listen to the voice telling you the numbers. Listen carefully and press Z or X accordingly.
• FOCUS!
• You are given first 2 minutes trial. The real test takes up to 10 – 15 minutes. FOCUS!
• Train yourself to use left hand and right hand at the same time. You will need this skill.
• If you are not a gamer, this is the time for you to play games. It’s better if you play games such as Flight Simulator, Ace Combat and H.A.W.K. Get use to these games. Better to use the joystick too. Look for this joystick, “LOGITECH EXTREME 3D PRO”.

5^th STAGE – MEDICAL TEST

PROCEDURE

• You will be given the instructions on what you should do. So no worries.
• I can only tell you briefly. you are required to fast 10 hours before the medical check up.
• Firstly, you go to the TUN HUSSEIN ONN EYE SPECIALIST HOSPITAL located at Petaling Jaya. Just waze it. So you will do your eye test there.
• After that, you will go to KLINIK MEDI UTAMA, located at section 13 Shah Alam. Just behind the NASI LEMAK CINTA SAYANG RESTAURANT.
• Then they will give you a letter. Bring that letter to do the x-ray test at DARUL EHSAN MEDICAL CENTER (DEMC). Just waze it baby!
• Your x-ray result will be forwarded directly to the KLINIK MEDI UTAMA. So you are not bringing any hardcopy of your x-ray.
• Go back to KLINIK MEDI UTAMA for your medical check-up. Firstly, they will check your heart rhythm. They will put all those wires on your body.
• Next, they will get your blood and urine sample.
• Next, your hearing test. They will put you in a soundproof box. You sit in that box. Wearing the headphone. Whenever you hear a “beep” sound, press the button given.

6th STAGE - LOAN BRIEFING

• The briefing was conducted by maybank officer. 
• It is not compulsory for you to take the study loan. if you want to use your own money also can.
• Maximum of 2 guarantors
• Guarantor's salary must be above RM6000.00
• Debt-service-ratio (DSR) of guarantor's must be less than 75%
• Loan tenure is 15 years including the first 2 years while you are still in flying school.
• Installment will start after the first 24 months since the beginning of training at the flying school.
• Prepare your own upfront money of RM35,000.00. this will be use to server the loan interest for the first 24 months.
